Working with volunteers, designing and creating events, and engaging the public was one of our favorite components of being IDSA Board Members.
For our second event as part of the Seattle Design Festival, we expanded our Design League mission of celebrating everyday objects to include transportation, understanding manufacturing, and the design process. Similar to our event in 2012, we again focused on engaging the public and invited participants to select, punch, customize, and assemble a ferry boat or a prop plane. Focusing not only on modes of transportation that are unique to the Seattle area, but also calling attention to the manufacturing and processes objects go through within a typical design cycle.
